Enterprise mobility is the next big battleground for enterprise software developers, mobile companies, and app developers. With the news of SAP partnering with Apple hitting our desk just less than a week before, there are still more to come. While there have been enough talks on security vulnerabilities with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, mobile cloud platforms, consolidation of features and vendors, etc. we can still wait for a lot of trends to unfold in the time to come. Well, no weird and insane tech is going to baffle our sense of reality but mobility can take over the workplaces with deeper and almost scorching penetration. The below mentioned 5 enterprise mobility trends are enough proof of that.

1. Standardization of Security for Enterprise Apps

With an increasing number of enterprises clinging onto mobile apps for their internal processes and customer interactions, the concern around security vulnerability is asking for a new standard of tools and practices. Apple, Google, Microsoft and other companies catering to enterprise mobility needs are already taking steps to define best practices and address potential vulnerabilities.

2. Mobile Cloud for Enterprises

Mobile Cloud for EnterprisesMobile works mainly as the front-end device, isn’t it?  But while mobile devices work like frontend devices, cloud services can offer backend operations. This is the reason why we see cloud integration taking pace at many of the enterprises. In the time to come most enterprise apps are going to be powered by cloud services. As native apps are going to be popular for accessing cloud services in the time to come Enterprises have to take a rigorous approach to integrating cloud services with their mobile apps.

3. Consolidation of Features

All types of innovations, particularly those in enterprise IT, started like products for limited use. They always offered limited functionalities and most of the times addressed single set of requirements. This happens due to lack of consolidation of  features. Mobile device management was crucial for configuring different devices within the enterprise IT framework. Through this consolidation of features, we are going to see the onset of single console enterprise mobility suits.

4. Integration of Desktop and Mobile

Don’t you often come across typical card-like interfaces in mobile apps and web?  Since Microsoft unveiled its Windows 8 OS, we have seen a lot of apps both on the web and native platform are coming with a similar look and feel. The Interface of Windows 10 is a great example of how desktop and mobile are going to converge in a single interface. The touch input capability, fluid overlapping screens and above all ease of access ability through grid-like interfaces are going to be mainstream attributes of any software and application interface.  Naturally enterprise grade apps will also embrace this trend. The convergence and integration of Desktop OS and mobile OS are going to be the next big trend for enterprise mobility.

Change in Regulatory Framework

Change in Regulatory FrameworkThe last but not the least important development is in the mindset concerning the IT regulations. Just think of the way IT infrastructure and security concerns have been subject to broad-based global practices and regulations for more than a decade.  As mobility becoming the face of enterprise IT, it is going to be the subject of the same type of regulations. In some countries there has already been a talk on deploying minimum security requirements for IT companies.  In the future, keeping you of the emerging risks and vulnerabilities these security requirements from different IT companies are going to be covered under a broad regulatory framework.
